Why Donate

You know us, right? You’ve been there as we channel the power of story, turning our excitement for JK Rowling’s stories into activism. In the past two years alone, the HPA has orchestrated over a dozen national and international campaigns for social justice and equality.

In this short time, and with funds raised by you, we have:

  • Sent five cargo planes of supplies to Haiti, containing more than $123,000 worth of life-saving supplies. The planes were aptly named Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, and DFTBA.
  • Collected more than 45,000 books to donate around the world, including the impoverished region of the Mississippi Delta and helped build and stock a library for the Bedford-Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School in Brooklyn.

With your help, we can continue our mission of educating and mobilizing Harry Potter fans to better the world around them.

Every little bit counts…
We’re extremely grateful to those of you who can make a one-time donation. By clicking the button you have the opportunity to name your own donation!

Let’s say you really want to give…
In addition to our undying gratitude, warmest wishes, and part of our soul (oh wait… we nixed the horcrux making plan), if you make a one-time donation of $200 or more, you will receive a personal call from Executive Director Andrew Slack.

And, of course, Thank you to all donors! Your name will be recorded on our trophy wall for all future wizards and witches to see. To donate in honor of a family member or friend, or if you would like to be listed in the Trophy Room under another name (perhaps Professor Wulfric Spindlebottom), please list that in the text box on the PayPal page.

Every cent of your donation goes to help further this mission, grow our organization, and effect the most crucial issues of the 21st century, the horcruxes of our world: human rights violations, prejudice and inequality, illiteracy, depression and poor body-image, and global warming. Funds raised touch every part of the HPA from the design of the website you see here, that time you met Executive Director Andrew Slack at a conference or event spreading the message of the HPA, to the shelves in the Imagine Better Library at the NBCS.
