Dumbledore Movie Theater Challenge

Instead of going to see Half-Blood Prince as a normal audience member, Harry Potter Alliance members across the world went to see the film as members of Dumbledore’s Army.

what dumbledore taught me tagsThe idea behind the “Dumbledore Movie Theater Challenge” was for people to go to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with a name tag (that you can still print out here) and instead of their name, Harry Potter fans wrote one thing that Dumbledore taught them. And when they stand in line at the midnight release or at any time during the first week of the movie to walk up to people in line with blank name tags and ask them to write what Dumbledore taught them.*

The idea was for everyone to walk out of the theater remembering that if we carry on with the lessons that Dumbledore taught us, his spirit will live on. And we need the message of his spirit more than ever in this world.

By our estimates, with the help of partners like Mugglenet, Leaky, HPEF, countless Wizard Rock bands and so many more (check out our partner groups on the front page)people wore and handed out name tags in at least hundreds of theaters across North and South America, Europe, even Singapore. We estimate that thousands if not tens of thousands wore name tags as they stood in line often tweeting #dumbledore.

If you have pictures or video of yourself wearing name tags or of any thing you did at the opening of Half-Blood Prince, please post them in our Common Room.**

*We made sure to remind people that if you choose to walk up to strangers, please be cautious. Go with at least one friend, tell your parents you’re doing it, do not follow them anywhere, and if they are rude to you just stay polite and civil – Dumbledore would expect no less!
