Accio Books!

Accio Books! is our annual book drive that takes place each year during the month of March. Harry Potter fans across the world have donated more than 55,000 books to local communities since 2009. Accio Books! is a House Cup competition, where members earn points for their house by donating books!

2011

In March and April of 2011, Harry Potter fans fought the Illiteracy Horcrux with the every powerful Accio Books! charm. Our members donated over 32,000 books, not only to various schools and local communities, but also to the “Imagine Better” library in Brooklyn, NY. To learn more about this campaign, read more about the Illiteracy Horcrux.

2010

In 2010, HPA members and chapters donated 41,415 books to local communities with the help of our Heads of House. Half of those donations went to our partner The Delta Center for Culture and Learning, who distributed the books to communities in need across the Mississippi Delta. The House Cup winners? Hufflepuff!

2009

In 2009, The HPA launched our first ever Accio Books! drive. Our goal for the first annual book drive? Collect and donate 500 books. The response? HPA members and chapters donated 13,481 to local communities across the world and our partner ASYV (Agohozo Shalom Youth Vilage) in Rwanda. Ravenclaw took the House Cup, thanks to special guest Head of House Evanna Lynch, the actress who portrays Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films.
