A Grinchless Early Christmas
And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so? It came without ribbons! It came without tags! “It came without packages, boxes or bags!” And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before! “Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. “Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”
Wow. Even if I, like the Grinch, tried to puzzle and puzzle this fundraiser out from the beginning, I could never have guessed that it would have been THIS successful, THIS enthusiastic, and THIS mind boggling. That goal we set in the beginning? Well, ya’ll did like Michael Phelps and just swooped past any bar set so far in this campaign. WE ARE OVER $70,000!!!! At this point, it isn’t even about the perks or the livestreams, the Crumpets and Whodrums, if you will. It is about people who are impassioned by this cause so much that they are willing to donate their time and money to it. Any Grinch, Scrooge, or Trunchbold would have had to turn around and do a double take – with this much good in the world, people start to feel it.
Every year, I hear the phrase “we should live every day as if it were the Christmas season”. That giving, unexhausting spirit that is bountiful in the weeks before Christmas is contagious – when one person does a small good deed, it spreads like wildfire. Well, da hoo dorey, I think the HPA just welcomed Christmas early, because that spirit is here to stay. The tweets, posts, blogs, retweets, networks, friends, and fans that have put out the word about this amazing campaign have touched more people than ever. Christmas is coming for equality – I hope you’re ready for it. What next? LIVESTREAM MARATHON! We have one final push – one ramp-up-nonpartisan-nerdfighter-pep-ralley coming up in the last wee hours of this campaign to finish out with a bang – Gandalf style. I can’t wait to see the hilarity and madness that goes on… and you should do the same. This is it, the end, the roast beast.
It is time to cut the ribbon, open up new libraries, and begin an exciting and extraordinary year of Imagine Better projects. Let’s ring that in with a bang, eh? As always, thank you thank you thank you for your donations, kind words, encouragement, time, effort, and happy thoughts. These are the things that drive such successful campaigns and keep this organization as tight-knit (and obviously awesome) as it is. We’ve lifted up the sleigh, now it’s back to Whoville. See you tomorrow!
