Meet the Bloggers: Eclectic Erin

Two of the bloggers–Quinn (left), and Erin.

Starting this week, every Sunday you’re going to be getting to know your resident HPA Blog Team better!  For now, this means each Sunday you’ll be meeting another one of the HPA bloggers, but once you meet all of us, keep your eyes out for some amusing ways you can get to know us even more.  We hope this will make it more comfortable for you to talk to us in the comments, because we absolutely love talking to all the visitors of the blog!

Today, for your first blogger profile, you’ll be getting to learn a little more about me—Erin!

I went all-out for the Deathly Hallows Part 2 midnight premiere.

First fun fact: I’m really, really bad at introducing myself.  I never know what to say.

I guess I’ll start with the basics.  I first met Harry Potter in the fall of 2000 (right after Goblet of Fire was published) after being badgered into reading them by my friends.  It was love at first…read.  Over the years, I’ve hung out on various Harry Potter fansites and forums, gotten into heated debates, listened to the podcasts, went to midnight premiers (in costume, of course), joined a local fan group called HP-Ohio, and became an HPA staffer at the very end of January 2011.

I’m a Ravenclaw…with strong Gryffindor tendencies.  Would that make me a RavenDor?  GryffinClaw?  Whichever it is, that’s what I am.

I also went all-out for the Hunger Games midnight premiere this year!

In my Muggle, non-HPA life (also known as that boring “real world”), I’m a writer with a day job.  I graduated with a BA in Creative Writing from Ohio Northern University back in 2009, and I’ve kept up with my writing even though my day job has absolutely nothing to do with what I studied in college.  I mostly write Young Adult, and one day hope to publish a novel, but until that day, I keep writing, keep revising, and am currently posting a blog novel to give me incentive to keep up.

Ready to dance.

I am also very addicted to Broadway musicals and live theatre in general.  Without a doubt, my favorite musical is Wicked (it’s one of my favorite novels as well).  I also review shows for a freelance writing job (see?  Seriously, I’m always writing).

Some other fun facts.  I love music, but I have no singular tastes in it, and I have such a wide range on my iPod that it might surprise some.  I love doing nerdy things like going to wrock shows and going to movies in costume (last time was for Hunger Games).  I read everything I can possibly get my hands on.  I’ve recently gotten into Doctor Who.  And I’ve played handbells for some ridiculous number of years that I don’t even want to try to figure out.

But my big thing, particularly at this time of year, is Irish dance.  I’ve been an Irish dancer for three years, and this is my dance group’s big time of year, due to the local Irish festival.  I love dancing, I love performing, and I love competing (all of which I get to do in exactly one week).

I’m a pretty eclectic individual, that’s for sure.  I guess it just means my life never has much chance to get very boring!

Make sure you come back next Sunday to meet another one of your HPA bloggers!
