Happy Birthday to Our Two Greatest Heroes!

As we come to the ending of our largest campaign ever, it seems very fitting that we should be able to send it off with a huge happy birthday wish to the two people who, ultimately, are responsible for everything we do: J.K. Rowling, and Harry Potter himself.

Over the last few years, we have, in our own special way, greatly contributed to the lasting success of Harry Potter. Just take a look at our success stories: we’ve sent five planes to Haiti, donated over 87,000 books, built a library, and collected the signatures of over 15,000 people (including four Harry Potter film actors) on a petition to make all Harry Potter chocolate fair trade.

In celebration of the final film, we have thrown ourselves whole-heartedly into the Deathly Hallows Campaign, taking on seven real-world horcruxes and preparing ourselves, and the world, for the battle to Imagine Better and make the world a better place.

It’s an impressive list, and, as we all know, it’s only going to get better from here on.

And through all of that, we have never lost sight of the place we started, and those we have to thank for our incredible journey. This past month we have proudly laughed and cried our way through Dear Mr. Potter, and fondly remembered the days when we too, check our mail-boxes daily in hopes of finding that much longed for glimpse of yellow parchment and green ink.

So tonight, as we raise our glasses to The Boy Who Lived, and the woman who created him, let us also take a moment to pledge to ourselves that we will keep the magic alive. Wherever our paths take us, we will stop now and then, and remember the boy who helped us all out of our various cupboards, and taught us to face the future proudly, and to know what is worth fighting for.
