Lend Your Voice for Peace in Congo

As responsible global citizens and consumers, we cannot allow our purchases to continue funding armed groups terrorizing communities in eastern Congo. There are solutions. Take a moment to tell the SEC how important it is for the law to deliver on its purpose: clean, transparent supply chains that facilitate a mining sector in Congo that benefits its people.

From Frappuccinos to Homemade Bagels: a Male Perspective on Body Image

As a boy, I thought eating disorders were only for women. As a teenager, I realized this wasn’t true–I was very aware of the fact that I had one.

Living Local

To me, the best meal I can imagine is one where I know where every single ingredient came from, who raised it, where, and how much care and love went into it even before it got to our kitchen. Eating locally grown food presents challenges and requires lots of planning ahead, but it is a wonderful feeling to sit down to a meal that you really, truly, know the contents of, and can say proudly that it has gotten to your table without harming the environment in any way.

Mindfulness and Mindful Eating

We may begin practicing mindfulness simply to find some peace. Little do we know that through this journey we can get in touch with unknown aspects of ourselves. We can learn so much by quietly observing and loving these thoughts and ideas of ours as they unfold. Enjoy each step, each breath, and each bite you take of this life!

Setting and Achieving Fitness Goals

If there’s something I’m truly proud of, it’s not just having finished a half marathon and proving to myself what I can do, but inspiring those around me to strive for health and fitness as well. It is nothing but a vehicle for our greater creative purpose but if we don’t give it fuel and keep it in good working order it instead becomes another obstacle to transcend, a physical one, as well as the many million fictitious mental ones that society presents.

The Deathly Hallows Campaign on MLK Day

I’d like to add to the wonderful entries we have seen on the subject of how we eat by putting it into the context of today’s holiday in the US: Martin Luther King Day.

Project Free Fruit

Our species is finally learning its lesson about waste. We’re learning to recycle, we’re learning to cut down on our nasty fossil fuel habit, and we’re learning to eat more responsibly. Frankly I find the challenge of becoming a less wasteful society to be invigorating, but what’s really interesting is figuring out how to consume less while simultaneously producing more.

Food from the Heart

My favorite thing about food is the way it connects us to people. Giving someone a meal you take time on is a way to give a little piece of yourself. My challenge to you today is to take time in the next week or so and cook something for someone. Maybe you invite friends over for a healthy meal, or maybe you bake a cake for your mom; regardless of who or what it is, sharing a meal with someone you love will nourish you both body and soul. How’s that for a mind-body connection?
