The HPA Joins Project 4 Awesome

So, What’s this P4A thing?

In 2007, Project 4 Awesome began as a modest project. The idea was to take over YouTube so that for one day Nerdfightaria would take over YouTube. Everyone who posted a video on December 17, 2007 would include the Project 4 Awesome thumbnail or image in their video, and then Nerdfighters would watch these videos and then comment on them, so that the Project 4 Awesome thumbnail would be one of the most viewed images on YouTube. Since then, Project 4 Awesome has evolved into an overwhelming show of support for charities and giving across the world.

How Can I Participate in P4A?

Watching the videos, commenting on them and sharing them with your friends is obviously an important part of Project 4 Awesome. But the most important way to participate? Make a video! That’s right, feature your favorite charity in a short video that you can share with your friends, family and the whole Nerdfighter/YouTube community. Now, wouldn’t it be great if you had a charity that you really cared about, one you’ve been pretty active in, one that has accomplished a lot in the past year with YOUR help? Wouldn’t it be great if that charity had videos you could emulate, or a special schtick that you could feature?

Okay…okay, I get it but what is the HPA doing for P4A?

This year we’re asking all of our members to make a video featuring the HPA. You can talk about how you’ve been involved in campaigns. You can talk about your chapter and what kinds of projects and fundraisers you’ve hosted through the HPA’s campaigns. You can talk about any of the big projects we’ve undertaken in the past year and how you’ve helped us accomplish them. Maybe you want to talk about Helping Haiti Heal, or where you donated the books for Accio Books, your Lumos Party and the Starvation Wages Petition, or your Patronus.

Need Help?

You can find specific information on all our campaigns on our website, and you can use this title card to mark your videos for the HPA. Then, after you’ve posted it, email us the link at! We would love to see your videos, and we know that all your friends and family would love to see and share your video as well.

I am definitely going to make a P4A video for the HPA (whoa acronyms) this year! I wanted to last year, but the timing is just a little awkward, it being during the school week, etc.

Question for you guys/others participating: the Vlogbrothers said that this year that they want the videos to be partly about going out and actually doing something. I was wondering what you guys thought would be a good thing to do/way to show this. Obviously we still have the Hunger Wages Horcrux & petition, but I’m not sure where I would go to get signatures, etc… Oo, or I could post signs around town about Patronuses, but in a way that people could understand (perhaps little notes to cheer people up?) Anyway, if you guys have any more ideas, that would be awesome. In the meantime, I shall do some more brainstorming for myself.

I’m making a P4A video about the HPA! I’m super excited because I didn’t have a chance to do P4A last year, so I’m happy that I get to do it this time :)
