Accio Books! Coming to an End
By Heather Murray
Hey Everyone!
Well, it’s here—the final days of Accio Books! You guys have done great work so far, and you should be absolutely thrilled with the progress that has been made. We’ve got books going to women’s shelters, libraries, hospitals, and more, plus LOTS and LOTS are being shipped to the Mississippi Delta! I’ve been reading comments on the Ning, and you are doing a great job of getting other people involved. Big round of applause to everyone!
BUT, it’s not over yet! We still have a couple of days left, and I know there are more books out there to be found. A few days doesn’t seem like much, but a lot can still be done. Let me tell you all a little story.
On Tuesday afternoon, I emailed a professor and asked her if I could make an announcement in our American Lit class about Accio Books!, asking for donations. She agreed, and then told me she would send out an email to the English professors and grad students at our university and asked if I could bring her a box. That afternoon I drove to Sam’s Club and picked up what was once the packaging for some turkey burgers, fancied it up a little, and dropped it by her office. The email notification went out late Tuesday night. On Thursday afternoon, I went and checked on the box, and well see for yourselves!

All these books were collected in about two days, and more will be coming in on Friday!
What I hope this tells you is, don’t give up yet! A few days is still enough time to collect books in order to spread our love of literature. Finish strong, and make these last few days count! So get out there and lets see what we can do for our communities and the Delta in the little bit of time remaining.
