Remember, a Phoenix rebuilds itself from its ashes. I haven't seen our Twin Towers being rebuilt after they were attacked by an organization whose evil motives put Voldemort to shame.

Dumbledore told Harry he could chose to take the road less traveled and it looks like our country is going the easy way by tolerating and even supporting very dark forces whose motives are not the same as ours.

Dumbledore guided Harry wisely. He encouraged him to fight for what was right. Taking Voldemort to lunch was not the answer.

The Ministry of Magic very much parallels the U.S. Congress today and the Order of the Phoenix represents the silent majority in this country. They won't be silent for long. With the spirit of the Phoenix this great nation may rise again.

THere is so much to be said about the symbol of the Phoenix. In the Christian tradition the phoenix represents the resurrection. Resurrection can look like some different things for me. It looks like hope when I don't at first feel it. It looks like rebirth change turning ones life from ashes to newness of life.. Starting again, redemption..Second chances, which Dumbledore loved to give. It is growth for us and for young wizards emerging into ad adult world. It is the divine spark within all of us that connects us to all created life. We either acknowledge that spark and light ourselves and the world with it.. or like Voldemort we can see it only as the "I" which without the divine we (however we see that) cannot come to fruition but leads to death and destruction.

Firstly I just want to say that this was beautifully written. It is things like this that make the HP fandom so great to be a part of. It is bigger than Harry. This is an epic story. Phoenixes are all about rebirth. They rise to life out of the ashes of their previous, worn out selves. To me that fits in perfectly with what you were discussing. The world is constantly revitalizing itself, changing. People are no different. If we want to survive we must learn from and adapt to our environment. The people of Harry Potter are no different. Tom Riddle rid himself of his common name to rise to be the most feared wizard of all time. Harry was rescued from Lily and James' destroyed house to grow up to be come the Chosen One. We all suffer from dark times but we always rise up over them. For me personally the idea that my sad moments will not be permanent always gives me hope. And after I've had this thought I usually start feeling better. This could be the Phoenixes song within us. I believe that Dumbledore had truly understood magic in a way most wizards couldn't. He was a life time learner. Fawkes picked him as a companion because he knew all this about him. As for the wand cores, the wand chooses the wizard, so perhaps it knew that Tom Riddle was destined to push magic to the limits and archive great but terrible things just as Dumbledore had. Harry had a piece of Voldemort's soul in him at the time of wand buying. Perhaps the wand felt it. Perhaps the wand felt the enchantment of love from Lily. Or Both. Either way Harry was destined for great things too. I did not mean to write so much on this! I can't want to hear more from you guys on this and other Harry Potter topics!
