Live DA meeting this Sunday with Hank Green and more!

Please join us this Sunday March 15th at 2 pm EST for the fifth ever live DA meeting!

You get to listen to and be part of this conference call simply by going to this web site at 2 pm EST. And you’ll get to chat directly with the speakers, who include Hank Green of the Vlog Brothers and Nerdfighters, Sue Upton of the Leaky Cauldron, Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters, Andrew Slack of the HPA, and more!

The call will involve a check in for the HPA House Cup competition’s Accio Books! contest where everyone can sign up for a Hogwarts House in the HPA Common Room and start donating books locally or to ASYV, an amazing youth village in Rwanda.

Also on the call will be ASYV’s Executive Director, Sifa Nsengimana who has been in past HPA podcasts and who many of us believe is one of the most powerful speakers on human rights.

After surviving much violence and oppression throughout her early life, Sifa’s entire extended family was killed in the shocking 1994 genocide in Rwanda, which claimed nearly one million lives in 100 days. Sifa says she stopped counting her butchered loved ones when she reached 85 names. A second brother would be killed in the Congo a few years later.

Longing for peace and justice, Sifa became a Human Rights Activist and now is the Executive Director of ASYV. On this call, she will not only be talking with our Heads of House about how thankful she is to the HP Alliance for sending books to ASYV – she will be talking about how April 7 marks the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide.

There will be very profound commemorations happening across the world with the biggest one taking place in Rwanda’s capital of Kigali on April 7. Sifa, Hank Green, and Andrew Slack will be talking about a way that HPA members and Nerdfighters alike can contribute to this commemoration in a very simple but very powerful way. To find out how, please be on the call (it also involves bonus points for the HPA’s Accio Books! House Cup). If you can’t make it, it will be on the HP Alliance’s podcast stream and we’ll send you more details this Monday!

In the mean time, please join us on the call on this web site this Sunday at 2 pm EST.

Thank you so much and may the Fawkes be with you!,

Andrew Slack
Harry Potter Alliance, Executive Director

P.S.: During the DA meeting we will be taking questions and feedback from the chat present in the UStream room. However, because of the high volume expected, we will be more frequently taking questions and comments from HPA’s Twitter account, which you can follow now. You can start leaving your questions there by posting a message that begins with @thehpalliance. Staffers will be monitoring this account and taking down questions.

Questions may also be emailed to housecup@thehpalliance.org.
