From Harry and the Potters

Seasons greetings! The holidays are upon us once again and there is we can think of no better way to celebrate than with our friends and family and a good old fashioned wizardly holiday hoedown!

Ladies and gentlemen, witches and wizards, muggle and squibs, you are cordially invited to join us for our 4th Annual YULE BALL!

Sunday, December 21, 2008

This is pretty much always our favorite show of the year! For the fourth year running, we’ll be celebrating the holidays at the Middle East downstairs. We’ll be joined by: Draco and the Malfoys, Jason Anderson and the Best, the Whomping Willows, the LeeVees: an all-Hanukkah band featuring Adam from Guster and Dave from the Zambonis, and the legendary Dumbledore!

Formal-wear is encouraged! $3 from each ticket will go to the Harry Potter Alliance!

Buy tickets through Ticketmaster or service charge-free at the Middle East box office.

As of December 15th, there are LESS THAN 100 TICKETS REMAINING! Please BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE! THIS SHOW IS ALMOST SOLD OUT!!! This is pretty much our favorite show of the year! We don’t play out so much anymore (this is actually our first show since August!), so we will definitely be making this one special! You can help with it too! Throw on your fanciest dress robes! Bring some cookies! Bring some friends! Bring your holiday cheer and join us in making this the best show of the year!

DO YOU PLAY AN INSTRUMENT? DO YOU WANT TO PLAY ON STAGE WITH US?

We are trying something really special at the Yule Ball and we would love for you to be a part of it!

We are having an open call for musicians to accompany us! Our friend Sam Bortka was kind enough to write horn charts for a handful of our songs, so we’re posting them right here and hoping that you will come join us for our fourth annual Yule Ball and be a part of Harry and the Potters.

The songs we may or may not be playing together are:

New Wizard Anthem
Song for the Death Eaters
We Save Ron’s Life, Part 8
Hagrid
Save Ginny Weasley from Dean Thomas
the Weapon

And here are the links to download the horn charts!

If you play something that’s not listed there, find a part that’s in the same key as your instrument and use it! Sorry, but we cannot
accomodate any electric instruments.

If you are interested in performing, you must email us (mailto:harryandthepotters@yahoo.com ) to let us know! We will send you
instructions on where to be and when. On the day of the show, you must be available from 2:30-4:00pm for a rehersal and from 9pm to 10:30pm for the performance. You must also purchase a ticket to the show! Sorry, we’d love to get you all in free, but we can’t do it! We will have a safe space for you to store your instruments between the rehearsal and the performance. You should also plan to bring a printout of your music and your own music stand.

If you have any other questions, please email Paul (mailto:harryandthepotters@yahoo.com )! We are very serious (and very
excited!) about this! What are you waiting for?!? Print out that music and start practicing!!

NEW WEBSITE
For the first time in, oh, five-and-a-half years, we’ve upgraded our website. It’s ALL NEW and TOTALLY SWEET! To celebrate, all our CDs are on sale for just $8! And there’s some other cool stuff in the store too, including some awesome posters! Check it out:

Also of note: Our friend Melissa Anelli wrote an awesome book called Harry, A History ( http://www.harryahistory.com/ ) which features a real swell chapter about our band. She will be appearing earlier on Sunday, December 21st at Harvard Bookstore in Harvard Square where she’ll be doing a reading from her book! It starts at 3:00pm! CHECK IT OUT and then COME TO THE YULE BALL!

For those who can’t make it to the show, we wish you and yours a most joyous of holiday seasons!

For those who can make it, buy you tickets now and we’ll see you on Sunday for the party of the year!

All the best,
Paul and Joe
