Breast Cancer Awareness

Christina Applegate, an actress that I grew up watching, just made a very difficult decision to have a double mastectomy. Breast cancer awareness is an issue that we should all take very seriously. As important as regular mammograms are, for some women like Christina Applegate whose mother died of breast cancer, it was important that she have an MRI and get a genetic test to see if she had the gene for breast cancer. While this is an issue that should not cause you panic, it is still an issue to be aware of, to read up on, and to consult with a medical professional about.

Andrew, thank you very much for posting these links. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer almost exactly one year ago. After a double mastectomy and 8 long weeks of chemotherapy, she was pronounced cancer-free. It was a hard time for her and for my family, and even though we are very happy that she’s healthy again, the worry will never disappear – it’s impossible to know for sure that the cancer won’t come back someday. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the HPA’s willingness to spread the word about a truly horrible disease.

My mother was diagnose with cancer not once but twice when I was a teenager. Both times she had was a fighter and didn’t let the therapy get in her way. Now today she is cancer free. Christina Applegate no matter what what your still beautiful.

Thank you for that post! It is a subject that I am passionate about!
We have lost all the women in my family to breast cancer… so far…. I am going to change that trend.
But thank you for reminding people that it is breast cancer awareness month!
    Love!
    Ami :)
