Patronus Update

After this post our web designer Acacia let me know that a person’s Patronus is not necessarily an animal reflection of their personality (that would be an animgus).

According to Acacia and her husband Jason, a patronus is about an animal that serves as your protector. Harry identified his father as his protector, so his Patronus was a stag. What do you think of this take on the Patronus? If you agree with it, this takes us back to the question: what would your Patronus be?

Mine would be a mother bear. She can be great when she doesn’t have to watch over her children, but when the time comes she can be protective and fight to protect what ever she is protecting.

That would also lead us to a more complex thought. We could try to figure out wich is the protector of Harry Potter’s Characters. For an example, Luna’s patronus is (as i remember)a cat, maybe she consider McGonnagall as her protector, or something like that. You got my point, didn’t ya?

My patronus would most defiantly be a horse. I can’t say how long I’ve been in love with horses. Their my best friends and are there when I need them most. Their the most glorious mixture of grace, beauty and fury at the same time.
I just tried over and over again to explain why’d they’d be my patronus, but after three attempts, I’ll stop. It’s just really hard to explain, I guess. :P I think too hard sometimes.

I agree with this theory. Your patronus could be an animal representation of a person in your life that you feel protected by, or it could be the same animal as your beloved pet who you feel protects you from loneliness, or it could be an animal representation of an aspect of yourself that you feel protects you from going under.

I have no idea what mine would be. It’d be easier to know what I’d see in the Mirror of Erised.

    That’s ingenious!!!
My patronus would have to be a lion, because Jesus is totally my protector, and Aslan reminds me sooo much of him!

So does this mean that Lily is sort of Snape’s protector …possibly from James or from pure insanity, hopelessness, or from a loveless life? hmmmmmm

My potronus would probubly be a hawk. I think they are amazing, they way they protect their young and raise them. Plus, i love the idea of something swooping in to save me. And on the idea of potronuses, i love how they can change when something major happens, like when Tonk’s changed to a large dog (wolf) when she fell for Lupin. and i dont think a person can be a potronus. i do wonder what snapes would be, though….
