Eleven Days of Breaking Out of the Muggle Mindset

Today, July 21 2008 the HP Alliance invites the entire Harry Potter fandom to celebrate the ONE year anniversary of Deathly Hallows with our new official podcast: Potterwatch, introduced by Jim Dale!

Eleven days later, July 31st, we’ll be inviting everyone to celebrate the ELEVENTH year anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone!

ONE and ELEVEN are incredibly symbolic years for Harry: when he turned one he was sent out of the Wizarding World and into the Muggle World. When he turned eleven he was invited back from the Muggle World and into the Wizarding World. And since July 21 to July 31 is ELEVEN DAYS the HP Alliance is launching the ELEVEN DAYS of Breaking out of the Muggle Mindset!

How the Eleven Days Work
Every day from July 21 to Harry’s birthday on July 31 the HPA main page will have a simple exercise to help each of us tap into the magic of our creativity – away from the Muggle Minded world of Privet Drive and into the magic and mystery that Harry discovered at Hogwarts. We’ll also be discussing each activity from each day in our forums section.

Day One: Celebrating DH Day
We are SOOOOO EXCITED to introduce the Official Podcast of the HPA!

Today’s activity is to listen to this podcast. The podcast gives a good introduction to these Eleven Days of celebrating this momentous anniversary – and then go to the discussion on our forum section to share what YOU were doing when you received Deathly Hallows one year ago!

So enjoy and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter, and let’s remember the words of Jo Rowling: “we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.” Together as members of Dumbledore’s Army for the real world let’s come together over these next eleven days and learn how to imagine better.

To Subscribe:
Although the HPA’s Potterwatch is not (yet) in the iTunes Store, you can still subscribe to Potterwatch through iTunes! Go to Advanced -> Subscribe to Podcast and enter this URL: http://hpapotterwatch.libsyn.com/rss

    @Hayley

    Advanced is not a button. Its actually up in the Menu Bar, you know, where File, Edit, Tools, Store… etc. is.

    Did that help?

    I just finished listening. Wow. All I can say is that nothing has moved me that much for a very long time. Beautiful and inspirational, you brought me to tears! The most amazing part about this is that you brought me to realize that Harry Potter totally, 100% is in lign with my spiritual views, which are very important to me. My spiritual views probably arn’t your and probably arn’t what Jo had in mind but this is amazing because now, Harry, which is such a big part of my life, can serve as a mentor and a guide in my life. In every aspect of my life.

    The power is within. It is great and beautiful and wonderful which makes us every one of those things also!

    My name is Jessie Pounds and I am a reporter with the Knoxville News Sentinel in Knoxville, Tennessee. I am working on a story for the newspaper with the premise of taking a look at what hard core Harry Potter book fans are doing a year after a release of the final tome. Feeling depressed about no more Harry Potter books? Listening to Wizard Rock? Joining the HP alliance? I’m not sure the rest of the world has any idea what all is going on.
    I am especially interested in talking to fans from the East Tennessee area.

    My deadline is Thursday, so that doesn’t give me much time. Send me an e-mail at poundsj@knoxnews.com.
