Government Scrimgeour

It seems that there is more and more evidence of certain authorities in the US government fully understanding that some of the people they had locked away in Guantanamo Bay (without trial mind you) were innocent. All, I imagine, so people would feel like we were winning a war – you know lifting morale. This is Rufus Scrimgeour with many Stan Shunpikes. Thankfully there are still organizations like Amnesty International fighting to end these indescribably atrocious actions.

That is not a very good analogy to the book considering Stan was a Death Eater after all.

If I am not mistaken, Stan Shunpike was under the Imperius Curse and that’s one of the reasons why Harry didn’t want to hurt him. He was acting against his own free will. So then he never would have been a full fledged Death Eater. But beyond that, if I am not mistaken he was not placed under the Imperius Curse until the Ministry unjustly through him into Azkaban without trial. When the Death Eaters freed Lucius, etc. they also freed Stan and placed him under the Imperius Curse. If what I’m saying here is right then this makes it even worse: the Ministry knowingly locked away an innocent person without trial which would later lead to him becoming under the Imperius Curse. This is not very different than some criminals who go to prison for very petty crimes and then come out hardened criminals.
